What a groove man! this song is dope.

Could use some work on mastering the balance of the sounds, but everything is honestly great otherwise

Oh dang this is a legit lo-fi track man.

Strange that you are an undiscovered artist because this is good man.

All the sound tones are pretty awesome actually, although the "bass guitar" seems kinda robotic and a bit too.... what's the word... wobbly?

At 2:09 the transitions are a but too jarring and take away from the chill

Great track though

camsn8ke responds:

hey! thanks a lot! i appreciate your kind words
and yes, i have actually been kinda "undiscovered" artist for like two years now (I got fl studio like 10 months ago and before that I just used crappy apps on my phone lol)
i actually record myself playing bass since I have one, i actually don't use plugins to make bass guitar (e.g. boobass)
*googles the word jarring* oh yeah I should have fixed that transition good ear
thanks for the awesome review hopefully I see your comments around newgrounds xD

Edit: Thanks for good rating too :)

Based on the tags this seems kinda like a joke.

If you can look me in the face and tell me that before you exported this song, you listened to it and thought it was good, maybe then I'll give a serious review.

Was fun to listen to. Not a perfect song, but as I get the feeling this was a bit of a fun side project, it's nice.

Oh man! This makes me happy, it strongly reminds me of myself the music I make....
Some things stand out that I'd like to give some friendly advise about.

First thing, STOCK SOUNDS, you gotta make your tone a little more unique, it's okay to use FL KEYS grand panio, but maybe tweak it a bit. Maybe look around for some free drum packs to get some better percussion going. Play around with combining that saw lead with maybe a bassy undertone.

SIDECHAIN your lead and bass to your kick.

ADD more sounds.

This project is the skeleton of something amazing, I feel like you "finished" this and posted it too soon. Maybe sleep on the idea, come back, add some background noise, add a bassline, add some one hit sound effect. You have unlocked the ability to use FL STUDIO and make stuff, that is the hard part.. I believe if you were to give a little more effort into this project you could turn it into something that people would be willing to listen to twice, and hum about when they're in the shower.

Something that puts you far ahead of several other people I have reviewed is you have a good sense of scales. You know what note will sound good next. Now just fill in the details.

CharlieSolis responds:

Thank you very much friend!! I'm glad you liked it, I know it still sounds like something unfinished but I still don't master the FL Studio very well, I just have basic notions made from experimenting with the sounds, and the intruders, likewise, it's good to know the feeling of happiness that
Regarding the scales: That's right, I have little notions of Music Theory, thanks in the same way, probably in the not too distant future I reposition it as a Remix
Similarly, thank you for the advice
It motivates me a lot to know that you liked my song attempt

00:30 Transition needs some help, even if you take a break from a project, go back and re-work it to what you're feeling, and if you're feeling something else in that moment, save it as a different name and then change it how you want it while keeping the OG idea.

1:40 The emotion this song gives me so far is that of being disoriented at some sort of a carnival.

3:45 Kudos on making an interesting drum beat tbh the synths still make me uneasy though

overall it's clear you have a grasp of the basic inter-workings of your DAW my advice to you would be to work on tone, try and make your synths a little more interesting, not just flat saws.

Dang that is one good sax sample! Also good work on making a bassline that does more than just copy the lead

Only thing I'd say to improve is the background keys sometimes clash a bit.

PeanutSapphire responds:

Thank you so much for your feedback. I really appreciate it. This was done about a year ago, so I wasn't that good sound mixing at the time lol. Thank you so much for your reply^^

Pretty good

Don't have too many thoughts on this one. It's just pretty good. I am curious as to if that 'guitar' sound is a sample from another song, or if you made it with a plug in because it's good.

JohnnyFrizz responds:

I actually made that myself with a couple plugins and a bunch of automations to give it that realistic feel :)

Thank you for the review!

It's like a lite-version hardbass song.
I agreed with the other guy's comment so I'll leave that alone. One thing I noticed is the melody gets off beat at some parts?
Idk listen at 4:25 and 4:50 sometimes it doesn't match up.

JohnnyFrizz responds:

Agreed as well regarding the bass!

Hmm not sure about the melody tho, I guess it's just the natural syncopation of the melody, it probably feels off cause the supersaw arp is playing a very strict 16th note arpeggio while the piano is just repeating the original melody from the beginning.

Try listening again to the piano melody ok the first chorus and see if it still sounds off tempo :)

And once again thank you! Really appreciate all the time spent writing these reviews Mr Pixel ;)

Thank you for stopping by my profile!
I do some music stuff and play games. Haven't been on Newgrounds for a while but I think it will be fun to get back into it.
Feel free to pm me for collabs or just to chat!
