Good work good work ! I love the harmony, the little glitter fx sprinkled in, the beat is classic house

at 1:00 the bass seems off, not sure if it needs to go up or down a bit in pitch. Having a single note bass line works but that bass has to fit the key of everything. The current bass kind of clashes and doesn't always fit.

3:42 it's like a whole new song starting

4:00 lots of dissonance, a little too much tension for my taste.

5:00 not a fan of that lead at all..

Pretty good overall, just work on some note placement, bass and sound design.
Sorry for being harsh, I really like what you do ! Keep it up man!

If you're talking about the plucks when you say bass, then i understand, i'm still pre-rest for the song, and what you said about 3:42 was accurate to how i felt while looking at it in my daw,
4:00 is a chiptune rebuild, so it's pretty dissonant, and there are 4 extra leads, one with chorus, one that's a supersaw, a normal chiptune lead, and a PM Lead. So, what you said is fair, however do keep in mind that i just got out of dubstep making mindset!

Well cool you half baked a single distorted bass loop. Never used LMMS personally so maybe this is really good for what comes out of LMMS.

floriigamer responds:

i really couldn't figure out how to use it so yeah...

Seems cool, kind of reminds me of an old videogame soundtrack for some reason. Listening to this is a little chaotic though, great job using several instruments to fill the space, but I think some of them get off key at points and the piece struggles to keep a single emotion for long.

the beat is extremely repetitive, the whole song actually is. A 4 bar loop it seems for the first 2 minutes. It's okay to be repetitive according the application (IE. soundtracks shouldn't change too much because it's not the main focus) but this song kind of gets annoying after about the 3rd loop of a bar. Keep it up though man, and Happy Birthday!

JackStormYT responds:

Thanks! I'll see how I can make this better

Very enjoyable. All of your synths and sounds are crafted and blend together and a great way. The drum beat is interesting and I love the shuffle.

the transition at 1:33 is awesome, I'm very happy you made it interesting, adjusting the pluck to open up and throwing the drum fill in a unique manner, maybe though, try and add some more background sounds, maybe a sweep or a quick scale on the lead to make the transition more build-up like. People want to hear tension lead into resolution.

CaptainBoomcake responds:

I hear ya, most of my music ends up clustered and with no breathing room, so I wanted to rein it in a bit, but I can see where there may be more room for build up :) thanks

An okay example of the modern genre.
Nothing particularly interesting to see here, but it's a step in the right direction as far as learning your DAW. I can tell you have a grasp on things, using different sounds and different gates. The song itself just doesn't have enough going for it.

More bass slides, more drum patterns, work on mastering the drums and changing velocity more often so it sounds less robotic. A good foundation. Keep it up man.

jiggydmented responds:

It is an older track. More of my newer beats are a bit more dynamic, I'm still learning stuff though

This track has an excellent vibe.
Masterful work man.

Nervousnoob responds:

Thanks, it means allot!

Very bubbly song I dig it. Chords are jazzy which is nice, for some reason I think of ape escape while listening.

Great work on filling in all the empty space with various sounds, when starting it can be tough to know how to add fx and make the song feel full.

Crazy-Unicorn responds:

Thank you for the feedback!

But conversely, I usually make my songs too full so I try to be lighter now xD

You're real handy with that piano, this was a good listen.
Could use a little more flavor in some areas, I'm extremely happy that the second part was different from the first, the transitions were pretty good not too jarring.

An idea, at the kick stutter at about :57 cutoff the attack on each piano note slightly, make it feel like it's got a gate on it, and throw in more little changes like that to break up the repetitiveness.

Not sure what the samples are from, but sounds cool.

KrissOk responds:

Oh mate I wish I could play the piano. I found a midi score and used the notes, I am not a musician at any rate (as much as I do attempt to write melodies from time to time).

I made this one like a fun thing back in 2003 or so, so there is no work files to tamper with no more. The talk I nicked from the movie "Everything is Illuminated", one of my absolute all time favs. It had some background music on why I trashed it up to the whispering thing that is going on as to erase the original score.

It was a fun plaything to make and intended as such, lighstepping fun with an idea. Obvi the second part has some extra flare than the first, whoever does a verbatim repeat at the end? ;)

Thanks for your considered input, much appreciated!

Interesting little glitchy/ambient track. Never heard of idm so I can't compare it.
The beat is good, reminds me of a plugin called like dblue-glitch or something like that.

Good work on using white noise and various pads to fill in the gaps, a lot of people don't realize how the track sounds as a whole while working on it because you're focusing on whatever instrument in particular you want.

Where did those vocal samples come from? They fit super well, I'm wondering if you edited the vocals to fit the song, or made the song around the vocals.

Anyways, pretty good I suppose. Keep at it!

skylikestechno responds:

thanks for your review. i used "dance" vocal sample in fl studio packs and "aaah" sample that is in the second half i randomly downloaded from youtube. glad you liked that, this is my first track so this means a lot to me.
btw, aphex twin has some awesome idm tracks, i got inspiration from him :)

A nice piece overall, could use a tab bit of work though.

First thing though, however you make your sounds they're awesome. Very realistic. This would make some good soundtrack music.

Around 1:15 things start to come apart a little. The piano is clashing on certain notes, the drums become kind of distracting, the pads in the background create tension instead of complimenting what's there.

At 2:25 things get real groovy, I dig it.

At 2:45 I see what the goal is, great idea but it seems a little jarring. same at 3:35 it's like totally different song.

After listening to the entire thing I kind of get a feeling like I just shuffled through the radio without finding anything particular I wanted to hear.

Pizzagod25 responds:

I 100% agree. The parts itself are pretty good, but they clash together and make this my least favourite song I made. It really is failing in transitions and just doesnt hit the right notes. I only uploaded because I spend a lot of time making it 6 minutes. Please check out my other songs, they are way better. I will upload more tomorrow but since you can only upload 4 per day and I already had 9 songs before I started it will be up to date in three days. Hopefully you listen to some other songs too! Thanks for the review mate!

Thank you for stopping by my profile!
I do some music stuff and play games. Haven't been on Newgrounds for a while but I think it will be fun to get back into it.
Feel free to pm me for collabs or just to chat!
