I love love love daft punk. This song is a great tribute to their greatness!!
I'm good with the hi-hat level, but the synth sounds themselves are very raw sounding. I'm not a fan of how the bass rubs on some notes. At 2:14 when it plays by itself though is sounds really good.

I'm excited to hear what vocals you come up with ! Rock on man

Almost-Ichabod responds:

Thanks for the feedback! I think I fixed the "raw" sound by adding a bit of modulation to the chords and messing with the ADSR some, I hope that's what you meant by that. The bass rubbing on some notes though I'm not quite sure how to fix or what you mean by that. I assume it means that some bass notes clash with other notes? If so I often look over that and that's a big problem of mine.

I am also alone and stinky. This song is not too stinky though.

CaperCube responds:

thanks! I made sure to shower before posting this

I feel a lot of potential here, what you got so far is pretty good I love the industrial vibe.

Nice panning bass, I can tell you've practiced with fl studio a lot. I like the little buildup background noises helps create and ease the tension.

Sometimes the drums don't hit quite right to me, around the 20 second mark and the 50 second mark. Also the drum samples are kinda meh, they sound like the stock samples. You can get some free drum packs online, and then make sure to always run them through the mixer. @ 59 the little lead synth doesn't key up, but later in the song it sounds better somehow. the sound it'self is good but maybe play with note selection a bit more, or even use the fine tuning for the pitch on the vst used to make it.

Anyways, pretty good overall man keep it up and rock on.

Electronic-Headphone responds:

Yeah, i somehow also noticed that, but ofc after I exported that into MP3. But thanks a lot, i like constructive critics :))

nice lush synth with a good breakbeat rhythm.

Some of the note choices I could disagree with, as well as the mastering for some of the more busy parts of the song, but overall this rocks dude.

TurbonicZ responds:

thanks! i've improved with note choices and mastering after this song. this song is really, really old. i think it was made around feb-march.

Ah yes RockStep my favorite genre

This song is pretty good overall, needs a bit of work but I just want to start out with I'm proud of you because there's a LOT of good in this.

Intro: Lots of good sounds here, I can definitely feel the rise of tension from the beginning all the way to the 0:40 mark when it minor drops. That hit that happens at 0:20 is a bit messy and things start to max out their volume levels around there, I can't listen to the frequency levels too well because I don't have my headphones with me, but it's still audible.

The Drop: at 0:40 when that lead guitar comes in I really like where it's placed inside the mix and it really sounds how a lead improvised would sound. It's track is really groovy but starts to kinda loose luster after 1:45 when things seem to be all the same, the beat doesn't change much and that (yarg) bass line kinda becomes white noise droning on.

Bass Solo: Very funky

Second drop: Kinda a copy paste of the first one.

Overall great job, I will definitely wanna hear some new stuff you come up with!!
Keep at it man and rock on.

This is one you SHOULD be proud of. It sounds like you put a lot of thought into the progression and took the time to find sounds that work well together in the master mixer.

The drums are great, I don't hear too much variation except near the end but you have plenty of fills and percussion hits.

This feels a bit more like background music to a game or a sad anime montage than a song that would be listened to on its own.

Nice track man keep it up.

9VoltBaby responds:

Wow, i can't find words to describe how much i appreciate your comment!! Thank you so much for the feedback!! Im glad the "background music" vibe got through cause it's exactly what i wanted!
Thanks again for listening to my stuff!

haha bass do go burr

Awesome sounds awesome vibes and awesome transitions man!
i love how the hi-hats are introduced in the intro from :43 - :50 it's a really good transition.

I try not to be too critical on mastering of sound levels and mixer type stuff because newgrounds only allowed compressed .mp3 files, but to me it sounds like some of your sounds are fighting each other for the front line especially that lead. Also it's bit more repetitive than my taste.

Great work though man keep it up and rock on!

*Edit: I don't really know how either man because when I playback audio on my desk speakers, vs my headphones vs my car aux vs my phone speakers; sometimes it sounds good on all of them, or sometimes it's only good on certain ones, it's weird. As long as nothing clips you're generally good. Try playing around with velocity on the drums, and learn how to sidechain. Also panning certain instruments slightly to one side while panning others to the otherside can help as well.

eans-bay responds:

Thanks for the feedback! I know it sounds pretty bad in some parts of the song. I'm still learning my way around flstudio and don't quite know how to mix and compose that well yet. Hoping to get there soon though.

Yooo this is sick! Not sure what NGADM is but you deserve to be a winner

NoStereo responds:

haha thanks :) I feel like one with all the lovely comments!

Beautiful library samples.

The mood is exactly as you described some real soundtrack worthy stuff. A great balance of tension and release on the note choice you have a real knack for orchestral stuff. All of it on paper is perfect, which makes it soundtrack worthy. The thing is though nothing stands out, not specific tune to get stuck in your head.

Great job !

potato-stick responds:

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback!

Sounds fresh out of Tron!
A pretty good song dude, maybe play with the synth the settings a bit to get a cleaner arpeggio.
Buildup is good even though it doesn't really "drop" into anything. The orchestral samples are really good although the strings don't transition quite right it's a bit too harsh at the end. Keep it up man!

Update: The main led synth you have playing is an arpeggio style lead.

Arpeggio: the notes of a chord played in succession, either ascending or descending.

FrenchHornGuy responds:

Thanks for the feedback! I definitely agree with the drop not being there and the end as well, but there were no arpeggios. I don't know what you heard...

Thank you for stopping by my profile!
I do some music stuff and play games. Haven't been on Newgrounds for a while but I think it will be fun to get back into it.
Feel free to pm me for collabs or just to chat!
